Fat and desperate…need to lose 25 lbs by Aug. 28th?

Haziran 27, 2010 | Diet

Before I get a lot of lectures and “you stupid idiot” comments…hear me out.

What if I work out 6 hours a day (done this before). I can work out 6-9, and then 3 hours in the evening. If I keep this at a steady pace, I can burn AT LEAST 350 calories an hour

350 x 6 = 2100 calories burned

If I reduce my intake to about 500 calories, and my average need for calories is 1600, then that’s another 1100 calories burned.

2100 + 1100 calories roughly equals 1 lb a day.

So in three weeks, if I keep this up, I can lose 23 lbs.

Do you think any diet pills will help me? Has anyone tried any diet pill that has worked?

Note: Don’t give me any “rapid weight loss” lectures. I had to leave school last semester (medical leave) for bulimia. After treatment, I basically ate everything, EVERYTHING in front of me, and gained a ridiculous amount of weight. I can’t go back to school looking like this. Nobody will believe I left for an eating disorder. Nobody will understand.
On the willpower question:

I was out of state for two months on an internship, and it was impossible

First, why the hell did you wait this long if you’ve got all this information on weight loss. That’s the epitome of procrastination which shows that, even if it were possible which it isn’t, you would have the willpower to do it.

EDIT*** Come on, don’t lie to yourself. Being out of the state doesn’t have anything to do with eating healty and getting some cardio in your life. You’re going to kill yourself trying to work out for 6 hours a day out of the freaking blue. Don’t do it. You’ll end up in the hospital or worse. Even celebrities training for movies don’t work out for 6 hours a day and they work out all the time!

Hmmm. Well if you lose the 23 pounds, isn’t that good enough as 25? Eat less and eat healthy foods. No junk food and no soda/pop/coke/whatever you call it.

First, you should have worked on this before you had less than a month to do it.

Second, work out at a healthy pace and don’t cut yourself to only 500 cal. a day that will be bad. Just work out to tone up it will be much healthier then what you are planning.

Sounds like you have the answer already figured out. It also sounds like the Bulimia is back or you’re setting yourself up for Anorexia. I know you didn’t want to hear a ‘lecture’ but, sorry, I couln’t not say something. It’s not all about size and looks; your body has to last you for a lifetime. Consider going Vegetarian.
    Here’s why.
What is Cholesterol? Cholesterol is a type of fat made by your liver. Cholesterol is a waxy substance found in all parts of your body. It helps make cell membranes, some hormones, and vitamin D. Cholesterol comes from two sources: your body and the foods you eat. Blood cholesterol is made in your liver. Your liver makes all the cholesterol your body needs. Dietary cholesterol comes from animal foods like meats, whole milk dairy foods egg yolks, poultry, and fish. Eating too much dietary cholesterol can make your blood cholesterol go up. Foods from plants, like vegetables, fruits, grains, and cereals, do not have any dietary cholesterol.

  23. Opinionated diyor ki:

Go to a doctor to get a check up and blood work. Other than liposuction, you cant get rid of 25 pounds that fast.

  24. cjsmommy diyor ki:

You’re going to think I’m lecturing you, but you’re only going to force your body into starvation mode. To lose one pound of fat, you have to burn off 3500 calories, but if you try to do it all in one day, you’re only going to lose muscle, not break down fat. The metabolic pathways are complicated, and it’s not as simple as numbers.

Not only are you not going to lose the weight, but you put your heart at a serious risk of having a heart attack and killing you. Is it worth it?

It sounds to me that you’re not recovered from your bulimia, and you’re planning on purging through exercise instead of puking or taking laxatives. What you’re planning is just as unhealthy.

  25. BH diyor ki:

Other people and what they think aren’t the issue…YOU are. You’ve already been a part of poor diet habits and you see what occurs. By starving yourself and working out too much you’re not going to be any better off…and every calorie you smell will go straight to your butt because your body will be in starvation mode.

Get smart…do it the right way…you messed up, that’s okay…people do that all the time…but take WISE responsibility for your actions and get fit the right way…a way in which you are more likely to be able to keep it off.

Been there…done that…I’m 41 and I’m here to tell ya I’d do SO MUCH differently if I could go back and do it again…having a metabolism as slow as a crippled snail isn’t any fun!

  26. funda62 diyor ki:

If you reduce your calorie intake to 500 calories a day you will pass out before you can work out 30 minutes much less 6 hours. If you have had an eating disorder before you should be very very careful about weight loss. See a doctor.

  27. ShapeFit.com diyor ki:

I highly recommend losing the weight slowly and correctly. I guarantee the faster you lose it, the faster it will come right back. The last thing you want to do is crash diet and really mess up your metabolism. Remember, it didn’t take you 3 months to put on all the extra weight, so it definitely will not take only three months to lose it. The safest total weight loss per week is 1 pound. There is 3,500 calories in a pound of body fat, so in order to lose 1 pound, you simply need to create a 500 calorie deficit per day. Over the course of a week, this equals out to 3,500 calories or 1 pound.

The best way to hit this 500 number every day is to create a 250 calorie deficit through your diet and another 250 calorie deficit through cardio exercise. Remember, you want to fuel your body with high nutrient foods and keep your metabolism “stoked” throughout the day. The worst thing you can do is limit your food intake to severely which will cause your body to go into starvation mode and hold onto your body fat reserves. Your body is thinking its getting ready for a period of famine and will hold onto all the energy it can to survive this period. I recommend eating at least 1,500 calories per day and make sure you’re eating “clean” and nutritious food. You want to make sure to eliminate all the excess and empty calories from your daily intake. The best way to do this is to write down everything you eat. You can download our free diet journals here:

    http://www.shapefit.com/diet-journals.html

I recommend a general “clean” diet to adhere to. I would focus on lean protein sources (chicken breast, turkey breast, egg whites) and non-white starchy carbs such as brown rice, whole wheat pasta and boiled red potatoes.

You will experience the best results from a solid cardio program along with a nutritious diet when compared to only focusing on your diet. To create the 250 calorie deficit for cardio exercise, you can review these exercises below and choose the one you think will be right for you. You might want to try them all and see which one you like the best:

  30. Pegasus90 diyor ki:

Get tested for hyperinsulinemia (high insulin). If that is part of your problem then a diet that controls sugars (or totally eliminates natural and sugar substitute types) will help you lose the weight the fastest, if you exercise as you say you can.

I don’t think diet pills will help if you have high insulin, cause “increasing your metabolism” may trip off higher insulin production, which would be counter productive.

    Best wishes.

Sorry just read the “whole” of your question.

The warrior hamster should not have been so nonchalant. You have my best wishes.

  32. April M diyor ki:

Your math is great… too bad your body doesn’t work like that. When you decrease your caloric intake to less than 1000 calories a day, your body goes into starvation mode and eats away at your muscle while storing fat. You will quickly lose some weight, but it’ll come to a screeching halt real quick. Sorry, no quick fixes. So unless you lose a leg in a bus accident sometime between now and then, don’t expect to lose 28lbs in 3 weeks.

My question is, you claim to have been too busy to maintain a leaner body because of your life schedule, how has it suddenly changed where you can burn 350 cals an hour?

  33. welsh_witch_sally diyor ki:

This is a difficult one, excercies will certainly help you tone up and will improve how you look whilst also burning fat, thats true, but very rapid weight loss rarely stays off. May I suggest you use an online food/excercise diary like weightlossresources.co.uk to help make sure you keep your daily fat/carb/protien/calorie balance just right whilst also accurately allowing for the calories you are burning? I’m sure you understand the improtance of maintaining an adequate intake for the rapid loss you are planning, and this really will help you through this if you are determined. The pills will not help. Full stop. A careful calorie intake (500 is too low on tat amount of excercise, but eth food diary will help you choose a rate that works for you.For most people , 1100 is essential or you go into starvation mode, but the excercise will still bring teh weight off) calculated after accurate calculation fo excercise calories will work, but please go easy on yourself, it will get there, but three weeks isnt long at all. Best of luck!

  34. nc_strawberry diyor ki:

Honestly, if you have went through the whole ordeal of an eating disorder before, you should know that this rapid weight loss thing you want to do is not good for you. Diet pills are just as bad as purging yourself, by the way, so you shouldn’t use them. They can cause a lot of heart related problems, just as excessive purges do. Also, why is it so important that others “understand” or that they “believe” you. You know what you went through and that you sought help for an apparent problem. So what if you gained weight, if you want to lose it, do so gradually and healthfully. Figure out an exercise routine and eat fresh fruits, veggies, less fatty things, don’t carbo load (but definitely don’t not eat carbs because if you stop carbs, you will probably eat more fatty things which is worse overall).

Seriously, don’t try to do this whole rapid weight loss, it’s not worth it, even if you look awesome in the end….it could and probably would lead to a relapse of your past eating disorder.

well i feel for you because i too have tried about everything,
I just had a baby 7 months ago staying at 165 pounds, and now weight 146, i still need work but ever since I started taking metabolite it gives me a significant amount of energy and also minimizes my hunger.
I also work out and walk for about an hour in the morning after I take the pill. But this is just a suggestion.
Having allot of fat decreases your energy and this pills gives you the energy to get up and do something about it.

    Good luck!

most doctors will tell you that it’s unhealthy to lose more than 2 lbs. per week. I tend to agree with that statement. I’ve lost 12 to 14 lbs of Water weight during prolonged workouts ( 3 hrs of racquetball). Of course, 95 % was put back by replenishing the liquids.
As far as calorie intake, 1200 calories a day is minimal to maintain proper body functions. You also should be on supplements & vitamins to stay healthy

I believe you are being “unrealistic” about weight loss. Try eating half portions, drink water, don’t eat food after 7pm. Are you taking medication ? Love yourself!

i believe that the atkins program is the best for quick weight lost. In addition, it can help you keep weight off if only you stay off the sugar/flour.

my understanding is that our body is not a heat engine and therefore you cannot calculate calories burned and calories consumed to plan for weight loss. it just doesn’t work like that, tho docs keep selling it.

You might be thin for all we know. I know many women who look back on pictures of themselves in high school, after decades of dieting and self-loathing and 1)wish they could look like they did then and 2)wonder why they ever thought they were fat….

Btw, speaking as someone who struggled mightily with food until I found and understood Atkins, everyone will believe you left for an eating disorder. People who don’t have eating disorders don’t fluctuate so wildly.

It’s far more important for your to develop your mind and character than your looks. Make sure when you go back to school you’ve read some interesting books – The Red Tent, Fiasco, Misquoting Jesus, to name a few – or you’ve volunteered in some important ways or you’ve spent great time discovering something you’ve never explored before. Have something interesting to talk about, ask people about themselves. If you really have a crowd that will only be into your weight – get another crowd.

Good luck. You really don’t want to spend your life on this stupid thing. It really is taking too much of your energy. Read Fat is A Feminist Issue, if you haven’t already.

Dont worry I wont give a stupid comment. First off never use diet pills NEVER. They dont work no matter what the commercials say. If you ask any credited doctor he will agree with me.

Their are three parts to losing weight and staying healthy. 1. eating healthy. 2. exercising. 3. Believe you can do it. You should not over work yourself like you are saying you will burn up so many calories you will be tempted to eat more and since you are eating healthy and watching what you eat you will become fatigued and tired. Not a good way to start school.

Run a lot the more you run the easier it will be to lose weight. From their concentrate on cardio exercises and low weight many reps (low weight and multiple reps burn off fat and tone muscels while big weights fewer reps bulk up musce.)

Eat according to the food pyrimad trust me it seems like a lot but your body will think you for giving it what it needs to operate.

    I hope this helped

The best thing for you to do is. Get with your doctor and find a Nutritionist. The nutritionist can identify the foods that effect your body the most. Next you need to join a gym and use a trainer. You’re not going to lose that much wight in that amount of time on your own. You need to work with a trainer and develop a diet plan to go with your workout. Don’t cut corners on this. Don’t skip meals either, that won’t help at all. When you skip meals your body only stores more fat because your brain thinks your body is starving. Pill won’t help on this one, hard work in the gym. Nobody works out 6 hours a day for a long period of time, not even NFL players work out that long, so let a trainer help you on this one. Remember don’t cut corners.

  41. Woz diyor ki:

whoa, whoa, whoa. You are on a path to self destruction. Take a deep breath.

First of all, you need to maintain a daily calorie intake rate of 1200-1500, or else your body will go into starvation mode and actually hold on harder to what fat you have, because it thinks you need it for survival.

If you work out at the proposed regimen, you could do irreperable damage to your body by not allowing it time to heal between workouts and depleting it of vital nutrients that you aren’t replacing due to the projected non-diet.

If you work out at this rate, you will look terrible, because your body will show the stress you’re putting it through.

    Take a deep breath.

And for cryin out loud, QUIT WORRYING ABOUT WHAT EVERYONE ELSE THINKS!! Are you really willing to hurt yourself so drastically for someone else’s approval?

Eat well…whole grains, lotsa veggies, lean meats, and omega three fatty acids from fish, nuts and avocados.

Exercise regularly, but don’t over do it. You get as much overall benefit from an hour of walking as you do from an hour of jogging or running, and in fact it may be better for you because it’s easier on your joints.

You are just taking a new approach to bulimia! This is called exercise bulimia, where you start doing way too much exercise to “control” your weight instead of throwing up. You are also talking about a severe lack of calories that will cause your metabolism to go into starvation mode, meaning that the LAST thing you’re going to lose will be fat.

Honestly, if you were bad enough off with your eating disorder that you had to take a semester off, you probably really needed the 25 pounds that you are carrying now. You also mention that you’ve “done this before” with six hours of exercise a day. You are getting right back on the slippery slope leading back to your initial problems.

TALK TO YOUR THERAPIST/DOCTOR BEFORE YOU TRY TO LOSE ANY WEIGHT!!!!

  44. iFitandHealthy.com diyor ki:

Even professional bodybuilders do not follow an exercise regime like this. Why? Because you get to the point of diminishing results. More exercise, after a certain point, will not burn more calories. Your body needs to rest and recover, if it does not, it cannot perform optimally. In other words instead of burning more calories, your body will try to conserve resources, which leads to a host of potential issues, such as:

    - decrease in testosterone
    - weak immune system
    - slow metabolism
    - depression

In my opinion, a much more effective approach would be to pick a weight lifting program that focuses on multi-joint, compound movement. Weight train for no more than 1 hour. Do some cardio like walking or swimming. Eat lean protein (lean red meat, chicken, fish, etc), vegetables and some fruit (preferably berries).

Try to consume about 1 gram of protein for your body weight. In other words if you’re 200 lbs, eat around 200 grams of protein. Keep the carbs low (around 100 grams a day) and get them from fruits and vegetables.

If you do that, you could reach or goal or come very close to it.

  45. BPR262 diyor ki:

Is it possible, yes, is it healthy…no. From the sounds of it, your body is not used to working out. Any exericise routine should be gradual. I mean if you run a marathon you don’t just go out there and run. You take your time and ease into it over an 18 week period(atleast). Anyway, forget what people say about not eating carbs after 5pm, because if you are working out…..thats exactly what you need to eat….not necessarily a plate of pasta or rice, but something to give you energy….banana or wheat bread. And get a heart rate monitor for your workouts…keep your heart rate in the target zone 60-65% of your max heart rate(rough calculation, 220-your age). Higher intensity workouts will burn more calories and have a greater after-burn affect where your metablism is faster, but you can’t sustain them as long.

Try a cleansing diet! I did and lost 10.5 pounds and 17 inches in only 9 days. I was very happy with the results and continued on the program and lost 25 pounds in 5 weeks. This is the fastest I have ever lost with other diets like Jenny Craig, Weight Watchers, Medifast, Slimfast etc…. Cleansing works by removing toxins from your body. You get toxins from your food (pesticides, preservatives, food additives, colorings) water, chemicals, pollution, medications, alcohol, hormones that the animals you eat were fed etc….YUCK! The toxins get coated with fat and remain in your body. To remove the fat, you have to remove the toxins. This system worked for me, maybe it can work for you too. You can check out the website or call this toll free number 1-877-587-4647 for more info. The program is not cheap, but it is worth every penny since it works and keeps you motivated. Good luck!

I’ve been through eating disorder recovery and gained a lot of weight after it. I know how you feel, but you actually have a GREAT opportunity here.

Your plan will not work because, after just a few days, your body will go into starvation mode. This will PERMANENTLY affect your metabolism and made it harder for you to lose weight for years to come. It will make 500 calories an ‘average’ day for you – so not only will you not lose anymore weight, but if you try to eat normally you ill gain a lot.

BUT you can lose weight AND fix your metabolism at the same time.

If you work out – you’re welcome to do six hours a day if you want, but obviously that’s a bit excessive, even one would work – and eat NORMALLY and healthily, your metabolism will get back on track [right now its already messed up because of your bulimia, you can only make it worse unless you fix it now]. This will make it easier for you to lose weight – not just now, but it will normalize your metabolism until something drastic happens in your life, like you have a baby or become bulimic again.

If you work out and eat normally, you will lose about one to three pounds a week. Which doesn’t sound like THAT much, but you will lose it very fast in the beginning and are likely to have lost as much as ten pounds in three weeks – only 13 less than your goal above and SO MUCH HEALTHIER.

Its your choice, but don’t just think about now. Think about how you want to be eating and how much you want to weight when you are at school and even after that.

    hi
Do not torture yourself with so much info ,sometimes simple methods are the most effective like this link which helped me loose weight and stay fit as well so here goes ,
If you are serious about losing weight, the calories in the food you eat should be less than the energy you use. You will have to increase your metabolic rate now, and plan your diet carefully. Formulate your own weight loss plan and you will lose weight faster. More details available at http://tinyurl.com/m7ckx

    good luck
